eine Ausstellung von Rudolf Finisterre

Rudolf Finisterres Thema ist “form follws nature”. Er setzt sich mit Formen & Strukturen aus der Natur auseinander. Besonders beschäftigen ihn Wachstumsprozesse, wie zb in der Plastik “Spongiosa”. Skulpturen aus verschiedenen Materialien, wie Beton, Holz und Metall interpretieren Formen und Strukturen aus der Natur.

Nicht das oberflächlich Sichtbare steht im Mittelpunkt , sondern das Verborgene das den Dingen zu Grunde liegt.

Das Interesse liegt dabei nicht im kopieren von Natur, sondern im tieferen Verständnis von Wachstums- und Formbildungsprozessen und der Anwendung von solchen auf originäre Arbeiten.

So wird zb in der Arbeit “Kochkurve” von 2010 ein Logarhythmus, ein Derivat der sogenannten Kochkurve, angewendet um die Form zu generieren. Wachstum & Formbildung in der Natur lassen sich oft auf Logarhythmen zurückführen. Diese Logik & Regelmäßigkeit fasziniert Rudolf und inspiriert viele seiner Arbeiten.

Die Ausstellung zeigt großformatige Skulpturen aus Metall & Holz, fast alle davon sind im laufenden Jahr entstanden. Lithografien & Siebdrucke aus der Reihe Elemente zeigen grafische Arbeiten, die die Arbeit an den Skulpturen begleitet. “Moos” ist eine Serie von Holzreliefs die das Ergebnis einer Spurensuche von lebenden Organismen zeigt.

Die Reihe ”Spuren” ist ebenfalls in Materialität und Oberfläche eine fast dreidimensionale Übersetzung von Relikten aus der lebenden und toten Natur.

Der Film “Feuerblume” von 2020 zeigt eine Auseinandersetzung mit organischen Wachstumsprozessen.

Rudolf Finisterre's theme is “form follws nature”. He deals with forms and structures from nature. He is particularly concerned with growth processes, such as in the “Spongiosa” work. Sculptures made of different materials such as concrete, wood and metal interpret forms and structures from nature.

The focus is not on the superficially visible, but on the hidden that underlies things.

The interest is not in copying nature, but in the deeper understanding of growth and form formation processes and the application of such to original works.

For example, in the work “Kochcurve” from 2010, a logarhythm, a derivative of the so-called Koch curve, is used to generate the shape. Growth & form formation in nature can often be traced back to logarhythms. This logic and regularity fascinates Rudolf and inspires many of his works.

The exhibition shows large-format sculptures made of metal and wood, almost all of which were created this year. Lithographs & screen prints from the Elements series show graphic work that accompanies the work on the sculptures. "Moos (moss)" is a series of wooden reliefs that show the result of a search for traces of living organisms.

In terms of material and surface, the “Traces” series is also an almost three-dimensional translation of relics from living and dead nature.

The film "Feuerblume" from 2020 shows an examination of organic growth processes.
